Military and History

At the recently opened Australian Armour and Artillery Museum in Cairns

Like so many boys of his era, Rod spent many days indoors meticulously building plastic model kits of aircraft and vehicles.

His obsessive attention to detail means he has retained a great portion of what he learned about military weapons and their history.

Today, this translates to military archaeology and battlefield visits and Rod grabs any chance he gets to dig, delve or dive for relics, most commonly around the Asia-Pacific region.

As a result, Rod's travel stories are often infused with relevant military events and personal accounts, adding an extra dimension to simple destination stories.
